My author friend, Anne Cleeland, has a new historical adventure out called The Spanish Mask. You don’t want to miss this one!

The Spanish Mask

A Spanish postulant is living quietly in her Andalusian convent until suddenly, the various factions from the Napoleonic war descend upon her, believing that she alone knows where the Spanish royal treasure lies hidden. As she attempts to convince the British Commander that she is not the missing royal, she finds she must also convince him that the attraction that crackles between them is forbidden, and for more reasons than one.

My take:

I have a special interest in the Peninsular War, which serves as backstory to my Sons of the Spy Lord Series. And so, I just finished reading this book, and really enjoyed it.

If you like historical romantic adventure with a strong heroine and a swoon-worthy hero, you’ll like this. And, if you like a story with lots of twists and unexpected turns, and just a touch of mystery, you don’t want to miss this!

  5. I have never read a story from this time period. It sounds interesting. And I’ve never ready a story where the heroine is a postulant. Sounds like a lot of yummy conflict and tension!

    • Anne’s stories are very good. She also writes a contemporary British police procedural where the heroine is a fey Irish Catholic girl. Great fun.
