Celebrating the Season: #MFRWAuthor Blog Challenge, Week 38
This week’s blog topic is The Best Parts of Each Season
Still on deadline, so here we go with another list:
Winter
I love that miraculous white blanket that covers everything and makes it look fresh and clean. We don’t have much (or any, actually) of that where I live, but we sometimes have rain, which is also pretty wonderful.
Spring
The transition to spring is very subtle where I live in Southern California, but I know when my freesias start blooming, we’re there. I love when my pomegranate tree, my grape vines, and my plumeria begin to sprout leaves and it’s time to plant the summer tomatoes. When the jacaranda trees turn purple we know we’re rounding the bend into the next season.
Summer
Since summer weather can come at any time in Southern California, even the middle of January, my favorite part of summer is a holiday, the Fourth of July.
Fall
Or, as the Brits say, Autumn: September is often the hottest month of the year here, and many times that heat spills over into October. I’m always glad when the heat has passed, and we have that first evening when it’s cool enough to make a fire in the fireplace and pretend that we live somewhere with incredible forests of gold and red leaves.
And of course, autumn features my favorite holiday, Halloween!
This is a blog hop, so follow the links below and hop along with my fellow MFRW Authors.

Flowering trees are so pretty – you’re lucky to live in a place where you get them. Bummer about no changing leaves in fall, though…
There are a few oak trees planted here or there that are still changing color in December, but people in our area tend to be lazy about raking leaves, LOL !
Lovely list! Your flowering trees in the spring sound wonderful.
They are spectacular!
Gorgeous pics!
Thanks, Maureen!
lovely trees. I can’t wait to see what mine will look like in the spring. I already had them in snow.
The jacarandas are my husband’s favorites.
This week’s topic has reminded me how much beauty there is all over the country.
Yes there are some beautiful pictures this week!
Spring is probably the most welcome where I am since it comes after months of snow and cold. Flowering trees are lovely while they last. Fall is my favorite season.
Oh, I miss California’s weather! Felt like spring most of the time.
I’m hoping the week coming up will be our last 90+ week for the season!
Good luck with your deadline!
The purple tree looks beautiful! I do love Cali weather, at least the times I’ve experienced it.
Thanks, Meka! I hit “send” this afternoon. Finally!
That is probably one of my very favorite flowering trees! And not poking fun or anything… I am just always amazed to see a fireplace in a California home because my mind tells me there is no way on earth it is ever THAT cold over there. LOL Thanks for sharing, Alina!
I’m laughing with you because my husband, who was born and raised in Chicago, always resists the fireplace thing. I’m a wimp though! When it hits 50 degrees outside, I’m ready to throw a log on.
