True Love at Last! #ReadaRegency
The last Desperate Daughter finally finds true love!
In 2022, the Blueestocking Belles released a collection of stories about a large family of sisters seeking marriage, called Desperate Daughters. Every marriageable-aged daughter found happily-ever-after except one. Readers noticed, and wanted to know why the seamstress sister had been left out.
That omission has been remedied with a brand new addition to the collection, Susana Ellis’s story, A Seamstress, A Soldier, and a Secret.
Read on and I’ll tell you how I was able to load the updated manuscript to my Kindle. First, here’s a description of Susana’s story:
As a gifted seamstress, Lady Susana Bigglesworth contributes to her family’s livelihood by working as a modiste in a haberdashery shop in Leeds, far away enough from her home in Harrogate to prevent tongues from wagging about an earl’s daughter being “in trade.”
Blaise Arquette returns from nearly two decades of fighting the French to discover a pretty young lady seamstress working in his brother’s haberdashery shop. Perhaps it’s a good thing she’s leaving for Harrogate and a Season in York, because, sadly, he has nothing to offer her.
For those of you who haven’t read Desperate Daughters, here’s more about the collection:
Love Against the Odds
The Earl of Seahaven desperately wanted a son and heir but died leaving nine daughters and a fifth wife. Cruelly turned out by the new earl, they live hand-to-mouth in a small cottage.
The young dowager Countess’s one regret is that she cannot give Seahaven’s dear girls a chance at happiness.
When a cousin offers the use of her townhouse in York during the season, the Countess rallies her stepdaughters.
They will pool their resources so that the youngest marriageable daughters might make successful matches, thereby saving them all.
So start their adventures in York, amid a whirl of balls, lectures, and al fresco picnics. Is it possible each of them might find love by the time the York horse races bring the season to a close?

For those of you who purchased a Kindle copy of Desperate Daughters from Amazon, here’s how I updated to this latest version on my Kindle:
On my Kindle device, I searched my “library” (not the “store”) for Desperate Daughters. When the cover displayed, I went to the right on the line and clicked on the three vertical dots there. Then at the next prompt, I clicked “see in store”, and then “Read Now”. My Kindle updated to the new version.
I’m not sure about updating from other vendors. If anyone knows how to do that, please let me know and I’ll share it on my Facebook page and in my next newsletter.
