Sometimes the Movie is Just as Good: #MFRWAuthor Blog Challenge, Week 20
Good Movies made from Good Books
My taste in books-to-movies goes to historical adventure, so in short order here are some of my favorites:
The Sharpe series
with the amazing Sean Bean. This is not, technically a movie, but a miniseries based on the books of the wonderfully prolific, Bernard Cornwell. May he live another 50 years and keep writing books! I confess I haven’t got my hands on all the Sharpe videos or books yet.
Master and Commander
I loved this movie, based on the books of the late Patrick O’Brian, books which I have not yet read, but fully intend to get to.
The Last of the Mohicans
This movie totally outshines the book. Honestly, I read the book at some point in my life, and I don’t remember a love story–was there one? This is one of Daniel Day-Lewis’s best movies and the love scenes with Madeleine Stowe are intensely emotional. Love this movie!
Jason Bourne
Jason Bourne is a character created by Robert Ludlum, though I’ve never read the book (or books).
It seems that every time we scroll through the Directv channels we’ll find one of the Bourne movies playing, and I LOVE them! This is my kind of movie, with lots of chase and fight scenes, and bad guys who get their comeuppance. The Jeremy Renner/Rachel Weisz edition has one of my favorite scenes, where the rocket blows up the Alaskan cabin. I’d love to know how they filmed that!
So now that you know about my weird taste in movies, hop along with my fellow MFRW authors to see what movies-from-books they recommend.
