My Biggest Accomplishments: #MFRWAuthor Blog Challenge, Week 50
Accomplishments?
MFRW Authors this week are sharing their greatest accomplishments. Now, this is a hard topic!
In the Regency world of my books, an accomplished lady could speak French, host a perfect party, play the piano or maybe even the viola, draw and paint well, ride horses, run a household the size of a modern hotel, and be an expert at embroidery or some other similar needlework art.
Me? Not so much
I speak a little Spanish and German, I host family parties (generally less than perfectly), I can play the piano a little, I’m really good at painting…walls, I can drive a stick-shift, and I’m a pretty good shot with a pistol (I had a job carrying one of those for a while). I also do all the family bill-paying, and I sew and knit.
How does that measure up?
I have been greatly blessed in my life, but many of these blessings are the result of good fortune, persistence and making emergency u-turns when I was headed down the wrong paths. Gosh, I’ve made and still make a million mistakes. I feel greatly blessed but not much more accomplished than the next person.
Follow along and see what my fellow MFRW Authors have to say.

I don’t think I’d fare too well in the Regency world either, lol.
I know I wouldn’t have fared well in the Regency world
Don’t downplay your ability to drive a stick. Not everyone can t do that, nor can we all hit the broad side of a barn with a firearm–well, I probably could if I were standing close enough and I threw the gun at the wall, but with a bullet? Not so much. And painting walls is much, much harder than the home improvement shows make it look.
Loved the u-turns. Apparently they worked out well you you. Congrats on your accomplishments.
Truly wonderful post, Alina! (What do you expect me to say to a woman who’s a good shot?)
Yeah, I think I’d have ended up being a governess….
So humble and yet so accomplished! Thanks for sharing your inspirational post, Alina! A stick-shift, eh?
I’m another one who wouldn’t make it in the Regency world. Your accomplishments measure up just fine.
Heck, I’d have never made it in the Regency world either. I wouldn’t have been able to follow all those etiquette rules, lol.
