Fab Five Finalist!
This week I’m celebrating my first contest final for a manuscript that was my 2012 NaNoRiMo winner. Actually, by November 30th I’d written 53,746 words on this story to qualify for NaNoRiMo, but I completed the not-so-fast first draft the end of January.
Like every other writer in the world, I get a lot of negative feedback, so it is SIMPLY MARVELOUS to have the balance on the judges’ score sheets putting me in the top five of entries.
Now to the very necessary revisions! NaNoRiMo was a wonderful incentive to get the story in my head down on paper, and the momentum even carried me through the first raw chapters of a sequel that I stopped working on to address another deadline. However, a fast draft is a fast draft, and (to steal a metaphor from Roxie St. Claire) it’s time to put some windows and walls and flooring into this skyscraper.
So, a big HOORAH and back to work!
