Book Buyer’s Best at Birthday Bash
I’m celebrating today because Rosalyn’s Ring finished first in the novella category of the 2014 Book Buyer’s Best contest against some very stiff competition. The overall BBB winner was historical author Heather Snow.
But the BBB was only a part of the day’s activities. Every October, the OCCRWA monthly meeting becomes a special celebration of the chapter’s birthday. For our 33rd anniversary celebration, this year’s theme was “Mad Hatter”. Special kudos go to Elena Losasso Dillon and Marilyn Bates for all the work they put in to decorations and the raffle. I even won two raffle baskets, a collection of author Kitty Bucholtz’s books, and a NaNoWriMo survival kit. And I got to spend time with friends.
The day wasn’t all partying, though. Rachel Kenley spoke about craft in the morning, the always fabulous Jade Lee gave a motivational talk in the afternoon, and at one of the evening pajama parties, we had a chance to pick the brains of successful Indie authors Brenna Aubrey, Deborah Holland, and Kitty Bucholtz about marketing strategies. Now to crack open that NaNoWriMo survival kit and get ready for November 1st!
